AND THE NEW REVEL IS......................RAISIN

Now a lot of people been chatting about the past couple of updates saying that they’re not really updates, saying their nans could make better updates, saying they seen phatter updates on the big brother live feed, saying they eat bigger updates for breakfast, saying SHOW ME THE UPDATES!!! Normally I wouldn’t rise to the naysayers, hornblowers and doom merchants but these guys had a point...and boy did they hammer it the hell home. PLOT TWIST! These negative voices don’t exist! nobody said anything! It was all my para. Perhaps nobody cares or they just got distracted by that scientist on youtube that blends stuff. Perhaps I was distracted by that too.  In any case, here marks the age of NEW updates and mountains of them. Dip your beak, throw your car keys in the bowl and let your freak flags fly.  Munch on my man, munch on.

There’s not been much work put on here in the past year but this isn’t to say we lost our pencil sharpeners.  On the contrary, our pencils have been sharpened and we’ve been stabbing all in our path. In fact we’ve blended all our pencil sharpeners and now we only use knives. REAL BLADES.  So I’ve established there’s a bum load of new drawings.  There’s also a new place to hang out on the main page, it’s called ‘THE SHOP’. Not that kind of shop, not a shop to stock up on wagon wheels and king size rizla.  More like a shop to stock up on real life artworks!! It’s open 24hrs even on Easter!!!  This doesn’t mean that you’ll be hawk eyed around the website and frisked if you leave without buying anything, just be natural about it. It’s a new kind of shop, very 21st Century.

All our
posters are BANG up to speed.  Even so far as yesterday (real time), Lucy’s Rowf! Rowf! Rowf! totally tubular poster for those swiss tonys at Golden Lab records was the latest addition. Forget ye not the 2006 portion of the poster sector, plenty more have been added since the last update.  What’s another word for update? Email me and i’ll edit this so it says it less.  I can only think ‘rehash’ but that’s not right.

Swing over to the ‘
Other’ and ‘Photograph’ quarters in the ‘Lucy and Dave’ zone.  There’s new booty in each. Highlights include our tagteam effort on Kathryn Williams’ Leave to Remain album and photies of our jaunt to Hamburg repping at the first euro Flatstock poster happening.  Speaking of double header teaming, post-Flatstock we got asked to contribute to Bongout’s plans for a book that mished and mashed 20some artists’ black and white drawings to make a cut and paste improv’d amalgamonster of a sweet non-read.  We both sent 20some drawings and you can see or even better BUYYYY the results here. It’s a big limited edition (150 made) hardback screenprinted book and features work by guys such as Seripop, Dale Flattum, Tetsunori Tawaraya,  Steak Mtn, Bongout, Keith Herzik, Pierre Richardson and many more. We are pleased as pinch to be involved.

Jones fans continue their spooky wait for the all new LJ crashpad in Lucy corner.  I endeavor to rectify the hopes and dreams of all that visit the page soon.  Lucy has been busy working on plenty drawings for a new silkscreen book project we were asked to work on with Bongout. They look very great.  Indeed tricks are turning collaboration nation of late.  We have both been painting on big canvasses with two other dudes who I will list by first name only (because I don’t know their surnames), they are called Neil and Nicola.  One is a man, the other a woman. Both stroke a mean brush. The results so far would make your mum pack her bags.  Hopefully take some photos and shatter your screens with them soon.

It’s all revamp et vamp in
my section.  Head over with a six pack of stubbies and a quadload of bacon medallions and make yourself at home.  There’s cheeky tasters of a couple of new books I’ve made/almost made.  One is called ‘Flesh and Bone’, one is called ‘Vitamins and Exercise’. One you can buy, one you can almost buy. One about two chip heads, one about Tom ‘excited’ Cruise. There’s plenty new record covers in the ‘Illustration work’ section including some for Tiny Dancers, Neptune, Serfs and Petals on a Wet Black Bough. I’ve updated to the death my Fanboy NME series which came to an end this February, this can be found in the ‘Editorial Illustration’ bit. As can a couple of Plan B magazine drawings and one for the Guardian I did a while back.  I have a drawing coming out in this Friday’s Guardian hopefully - check Alexander Chancellor’s column for some cutting edge scribbs. Couple of new dog ends in the ‘Sketch’ department too. Everywhere man!

Ok, lets not leave it so long next time. Maybe I shouldn’t write this news so long next time neither. No promises though sweet bread, soak it all in Steven.  This is for you.

ARISE FROM YOUR E-COMA

It’s back baby! The internet done FINALLY had a word with itself AND sorted it’s life out AND moved it’s ‘stuff’ back inside my CPU.  For those of you out of the loop, situation was thus ; my computer had a midlife, wouldn’t turn on for weeks nay months...files feared lost...UNTIL action Dad steps up to the pate and hits a rally of fierce mechanical medicinal balls into the mind’s eye of my motherboard.  Computer then fizzles back to life but I can’t fathom reinstating the WIFI hook up I once took for granted...and then I give up for 3 MONTHS.  Sure i’m still checking my emails over this period but it’s not the same.  I can’t update, I can’t update, I can’t update. Until 5 MINUTES ago. I don’t know what got done different but now it’s back and now i can get back to doing what i do slowly...dragging this aberdeen angus chavburger of a site back up to speed!! HAPPY 2077!!!

NEW EMAIL

Check our contact page for ALL NEW email addresses should you feel the need to get in touch.  Our old ones kicked the bucket.  I gather the bouncebackability has been sky rocket. They’ve been down for months if not mass months. Sadly I fear we may have lost all manner of imagined clients through this techno breakdown so please get back in touch all those guyses who wanted cutting edge illos.  You know who you are : Budweiser (LOVE the bouncy floor beer ad mates), ipod (Lucy got a shuffle now), Claire’s Accessories, Vodkat, Rustlers, Bert’s Bees, The Mint etc. Pick up the phone, we’re deadline crazy.

WHAT NOW?

Relax, there’s no new stuff to look at yet.  We’ve both been active on the drawing board, a lot of babies got born, many eagles landed, nuff mutants spawned.  I won’t bore you with the details but I shall threaten to indulge you with the reality reasonably soon.  More excitements in the tank upcoming.  Please check back if interested.

P.S. Exhibition below is SO over

2 September 2006
BAD VIBES
I’m having an exhibition in London at ‘the Social’, 5 Little Portland Street, Oxford Circus frommm 11th September untilll a couple of months later.  There’ll be 12 posters up on display, 10 of which are red hot originals. See the flyer above for deets on the opening night. You should definitely get your fungus down there.

That’s all, no new stuff here or nothing.  Some new stuff soon

13 August 2006

So anyway, here’s some updates for you baby! Most sections have been rinsed over and towelled down. I’m even talking about the sections that rarely get the update treatment, guys like the photographs and lucy and dave other sections. It’s their time to shine!  Leave your car at the photo portion for hot shots from a live drawing extravaganza we did at Oklahoma cafe here in Manchester.  For those of you unfamiliar with the term ‘live drawing’, it means drawing in real time. And there’s people there watching it, but they’re not watching you directly, they’re watching a projection of your drawings on a big screen IN REAL TIME.  It’s a real mind melter.  People literally went inside themselves.  Meanwhile, that ‘other’ section i talked about has more collabo’d drawings. Take some time to see some new posters too.

I had planned this update to be the grand unveiling of Lucy’s new side of the site but all that’s still lodged in the pipes. If you’re hungry to enter the Jones Zone then there’s a few tasty tasters in those sections I mentioned above. The big update defs won’t be long though, i’d say it’s imminent. It will be good when it does come to fruition so i can spend less time talking about myself.  But until that day...I got plenty new ep/album artwork for the likes of Neil Burrell, Fear of Music, Richard Formby and Tiny Dancers.  Scope that and some new magazine illustrations and some new fanboys anddd some new other bits over at my pad.

I don’t know what else happened. Lucy went to Normandy, I went to Bradford.  We’re going to Hamburg in September to hawk posters at the first European Flatstock poster event as part of the Reeperbahn music festival. It should be eine riot. Updates before then for certain baby loves.

Cheers thanks ta cheers thanks thanks ta

7 May 2006

It’s coming up, it’s coming up, it’s coming up...it’s dare!  Updation nation! It’s been TIME again but not as much time as last time.  Our pencils have gone to stumps these past weeks, this is to say that we have been drawing long and hard.  There’s some new posters in the ‘Lucy and Dave’ section and a few new things in most of the portions in my corner. Lucy’s radio shack is still down, we hope to be back fighting at full strength soon.

Mount P did gone on tour! Poster roadshow ago-go! We played two dates. One in London at the Fitzrovian Phonographic label launch and the other at Sounds from the Other City in Salford.  The London one was a solo gig without Lucy, I shifted some units. It all went ‘mare shaped post-hawking though, I only went and lost my portfolio on the bus back to my lodgings!  What an absolute donut! It had a wad of poster prints in, if anyone finds it i’ll pay top dollar for it’s return. I lost a hotdog on the same bus journey but you can keep that.  Lucy was back in the driving saddle with me for the Salford stretch of the tour so everything was better and nothing got lost.  We shifted more units.  Thanks to everyone who came down and said or thought ‘yo’, you’re all amazing lifeforces.

I finished some EP covers recently for Fear of Music (techno kids digipak and comic book special) and Neil Burrell (one side hairy cyclopse vibe). I’m not sure what the etiquette is regards dropping the artwork before the records drop so i’ll not drop it yet. Pleased to have done both, they’re wild.

Coming up highlights include a collabo’d Former Bullies t-shirt, a poster for Selfish C*nt (LOL!!!!!!) and my
Tutorial Debut In Surrealist Fanzine Workshop Shocker.  Uh oh...

13 March 2006

Whasssssssup!

Ouch, first update in like 5 months? Oh naw you ditn’t! Sorry we never call, rang or wrote back your letters.  My e-game has been weak, I know this.  Well, the dark days of yesterday’s pizza are over.  We’re bringing the new shot, the crunk ship!

Mount Pleasant HQ has upped and hauled ass to Stockport! We’ve been busy drawing and moving and drawing our feelings about moving. It’s been a real rollercoaster. Some of this time has been spent without any internet but now we have it coming out of our spamming e-holes!!!!!!!!!!

BONK! updates all over your face.  Lucy’s section has been buried temporarily because she wants it given a good old fashioned revamp (w/ steel toe caps). It will return soon all brashy and up in your grill! You better build a bomb shelter because those (drawing) bombs she’s been dropping recently are seriously tight (good).  If you’re getting itchy around the eyeballs in anticipation, check the poster updates and photograph section for a taster course in what Lucy’s been doing.

Pretty much every other section of the site has new bits on it.  The posters are all BANG up to date in our joint section and there’s scenes from an exhibition i’m a part of over there too.  My section has had new bits added to all sub-headers bar books (because i’ve not done any).

We both have lots more work coming up including : Sounds from the Other City flyer/poster/vibe, I had an Inkling 7” cover, Tiny Dancers 7” cover, a mystery album cover and a couple of possible exhibitions in the summertime.  Hang on to your hats!

23 October

H E L L O ! ! ! !
How are you? That’s great. Not much to update this time around - there’s five or six new
posters to report.  There’s also some new format fanboys and a new t-shirt design for Nine Black Alps, Lucy just finished a double sided flyer to promote their new single - that will be up shortly. Lucy has been maximum busy of late so hopefully i will be able get all her new stuff inside the computer some day sooooooon.

We’ve ditched the guestbook recently because our first one got lost in space and then the second one was a total hoser. We didn’t really need one anyway, it was just unnecessary flare.

17 September 2005

BINGO! We now have a guestbook that you can write stuff in!! I predict it’s going to be a smash hit, don’t all pile in at once.

Hungry for more updates? I hope so because we have plenty hot mulch to cram down your face holes!

Exhibition fans should head to
Exhibitions, there’s photographs galore of our recent bomb drop at Doodlebug. A good day was had by all, we drew for like 9 hours! No free paninis but we did score some free beer, glug glug glug. There’s also photos from the small poster exhibition that’s currently happening at the Lowry.

Other update highlights include a couple of new posters and in my section - a couple of new fanboy drawings, some sketches, and some student stereotypes I did recently for NME in editorial illustration . You can see them too in the student guide with the NME this week.

Lucy and I are still in Liverpool and Bradford respectively so stay tuned for when we eventually do join forces once more - more updates will then be made in Lucy’s bit when we can scan the work and wotnot.

Ciao!

29 August 2005

Yo! It’s not quite update city but a fair few have been made.  Have a gawp at the Posters and Flyers in the Lucy and Dave section for four new posters, WHAMMY! Elsewhere there’s a sprinkling of new meat, five new Fanboys in my section, an illustration for Plan B in the editorial illo bit and six more thumbnails to click on in illustration work.  You can see the City Life cover and Nine Black Alps ‘Unsatisfied’ flyer there.

We’ve been asked to get our doodle on for this year’s Doodlebug event at the Cornerhouse in Manchester this Saturday 3rd. It promises to be epic.  We did it last year and lets just say we scored some free paninis, more of the same please!  Will take a camera along and post the ink bile we spew on the wall as soon as I can.

In other news, there’s going to be some Mount Pleasant styled poster action in the form of an exhibition at the Lowry (in the restaurant) in Salford Quays. It’s possibly already up and running but if not, it will be this next week!  Sadly hardcore fans may go disappointed as the posters all share a distinct lack of skulls, guns or swears - it’s still gritty though. Chances are it’s going to run for three months or so.  Again, i’ll post photos in the exhibition section when i get some.

27 July 2005

Helloooo update fans. Have we got some updates for you. Lucy’s section is now up and running with lots of pictures and stuff. There will be a heap more to come soon!

There are photos of the Paperdolls exhibition that Lucy was involved with, you can find them in the ‘Exhibitions’ section under ‘Lucy and Dave’. The ‘Photographs’ section is in full flight too. The Links section got born earlier as well. Go feast!

Over in my patch the Fanboy bit has been dragged up to date and i’ve put on some pages from an old book i made called Hutson.  There’s a couple of new posters in the Lucy and Dave bit too.

Turns out i guessed a bit early at the City Life feature, have a peek at the issue that’s out today for some Mount Pleasant styled action - a feature on Lucy and me and a front cover design! whoop whoop.  We’re doing some more work for Nine Black Alps as well this week, keep ‘em peeled for updates on that.

7th July 2005

Long time no updates.  The poster section and other section on the Lucy and Dave bit have been pulled up to date. My section is pretty much done but more will be added in time, work begins now on Lucy’s corner which should hopefully get a good thrashing over the next few days. Links and Photographs will also be hot on the trail.

On a non-web based tip we’ve moved out of our spiritual home in Withington. Sad days.  For the next month or so i’ll be operating from my Bradford safehouse whilst Lucy continues to stowaway in Liverpool. The Mount Pleasant studio will be back sometime soon bigger and stronger than ever but with a longing sadness in it’s eyes, we’ll never forget you M20! Videoscene, It’s Amazing, Diva, One Stop, Mighty Pound. An army of giants.

There should be something about us in the new City Life issue (Weds 13th) so check that out!

Dave

24th May 2005

Welcome to the Mount Pleasant site.  There might not be much to look at now but gradually things will be added over the next couple of weeks. Keep checking back from time to time to see if your favourite picture is up.

Lucy is currently working on some screenprinted posters for an exhibition curated by Leia Bell in Salt Lake City. Lucy has also begun cranking the printing press into action for her new book about trees and their latin names, keep ‘em peeled.

I am making this website and working on an all-star poster collaboration with Mia Ayton. It promises to feature a cat, sunglasses and elongated genetalia. If you know Mia, you know the legend. .
